Dear Mom and Dad,

By now I’m sure you have heard about what has happened in Paris, but in case you haven’t 10 journalist at the newspaper Charlie Hebdo were shot. The newspaper had recently published a cartoon teasing the prophet Mohammed, this outrager 2 islamic extremist and they in turn shot a total of 12 people. The city of paris is currently in a state of devastation. I don’t know if you have seen the people holding the “ Je suis charlie” meaning I am charlie but many people are mourning this terrible event. I am fine, I am currently in the small city of  Cheissoux. Which is a beautiful town in the loire valley. Also you shouldn’t worry because my apartment in france is in the 6th arrondissement in Paris while the shooting happened in the 19th.   

Here are some pictures of people holding “ je suis charlie” signs. I don’t think that they have caught the two men responsible for this but I do know that the security for France and the surrounding countries has been stepped up and extra precautions have been taken. This is truly terrible and I honestly can’t imagine anything more evil than the events that have happened here. I love you both and hope to see you all soon.
